Clary Castrission
After graduating as a lawyer in Sydney Australia, Clary was accidently turned into a social entrepreneur when he took a life-changing trip to India. Since 2006, 40K’s journey has transformed from a school building charity into an education technology social enterprise. Now, 40K’s edtech platform has thousands of children learning from it in India and Cambodia.
40K won the 2017 MIT global innovation competition, SOLVE, the 2017 Indo-Pacific Development Award, the 2016 Google Impact Challenge, as well as the Australian Social Enterprise Innovation Award in 2016. Clary has spoken at TEDx and the United Nations about his ideas of “Innovation by Restriction” in 2013 and was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia.

Chris Chan
Chris Chan began his career at Virgin Australia Airlines as a finance graduate and has been in various roles in the travel industry since. His core philosophy is to build people up and make numbers simple to drive results. He does this by making every interaction count as he believes the softer side of the role is the bridge between numbers and actions. He brings a breadth of experience not just within finance but also in the data and commercial space. From your traditional accounting roles, such as leading a Financial Accounting team, to innovating in the data space with a blended team of IT and finance personnel whilst also having experience in commercially focused roles such as Domestic Pricing Specialist in Revenue management.

Colleen Chapman
Previously, Head of Financial Control for QBE Insurance Australia for 4 years. Responsibility for one of the largest business units (by premium) within QBE Insurance Australia. Previously had responsibility for a large and varied number of functions in the QBE Australia Finance Team. The size of my total team in Australia is approximately 40. I have just over 60 team members in our Global Shared Services Centre in Manila providing direct support for my on shore accounting team.

Dr Eugene Dubossarsky
Dr. Dubossarsky is the principal founder of The Australia New Zealand Data Analytics Network, a community of meetup groups across the region with over 14,600 members, and includes the 5000+ member Data Science Sydney group among others. He is a data science leader of over 20 years commercial experience. In business, he is the CEO of Presciient, providing elite data science training to hundreds in Australia and overseas over the last 5 years, and now offering courses in quantum computing. He is the Chief Data Scientist of AlphaZetta, a global analytics consultancy spanning 41 countries with over 460 consultants globally. He is a founding partner of Advantage Data, a leading Australian analytics consultancy, Aurum Data, a new data valuation and commercialisation firm, and reask.earth an environemental catastrophe risk modelling company.

David Farrugia
With almost 30 years’ experience using spreadsheeting packages and a background working at Arthur Andersen and Pricewaterhouse Coopers for a total of 11 years, David joined the team at SumProduct with extensive experience across various roles including data analysis, financial modelling, business management and developing reporting solutions. David also provides training and most recently presented at the World Congress Of Accountants in Sydney.

Shari Frew
Shari has 20 years’ experience in a diverse range of business activities including strategic planning, leading transformational change, financial management, data and analytics, operational management, business process improvement, and delivering large programs of work. Shari has advanced skills in people leadership, leading by influence and stakeholder engagement having previously been responsible for teams of varying sizes at Griffith University, Suncorp Group and Macquarie Bank. Further she has been in hands on executive financial positions giving her a great perspective of what really works when managing change in times of disruption.

Kevin is an IFRS advisory specialist with over 20 years’ experience in financial reporting and accounting, professional standards and ethics, audit and assurance, and learning and development. With a proven ability to develop constructive, open relationships at all levels, Kevin’s objective is to deliver IFRS advisory solutions that align with his client’s business objectives. Kevin was at the forefront of the adoption of IFRS in the early 2000’s and has served as partner and technical director at two large, multi-national audit and advisory firms for over 10 years before joining BDO.

Petris Lapis
Petris has worked in accounting, law, academia, banking and training. She has several published books and hundreds of papers. She has studied commerce, law, coaching, NLP and hypnosis. Petris is a rower, a coach and a mum to two teenagers. She loves warm sunny days, great food, laughter, exercise and moments of calm.

Murray McDonald
Murray McDonald is a Director in the Audit & Assurance division in Moore Stephens Qld & Northern New South Wales. He has over 30 years of experience in the accounting and advisory industry and specialises in audit and assurance. He is a member of the Moore Stephens Audit & Assurance Committee.
Murray qualified with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Queensland. He is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and is a member of the CAANZ’s Queensland Public Practice Panel. Murray is also a Registered Company Auditor, a Registered SMSF Auditor and an Approved Overseas Auditor in New Zealand.

Kim Marx began her career at PwC in South Africa before making the move to Australia, gaining experience in Regional NSW and at PwC in Brisbane before joining the Finance Business Partnering team at Griffith University, where she has been for 4 years. She has many years of experience in key business partnering and leadership skills and strives to add value to her clients through gaining an understanding of relevant business issues and providing insight.

Doug Niven FCA
Doug is Senior Executive Leader, Financial Reporting and Audit of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). He is responsible for the regulation of financial reports and audits under Australia’s corporations and securities legislation. This includes leading ASIC’s financial reporting surveillance and audit inspection programmes, financial reporting and audit policy, auditor registration and deregistration, enforcement matters concerning auditors, and digital reporting. Doug is a member of the International Forum of Independent Audit Regulators and Committee 1 of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions.

Kris Peach
Kris is the Chair of the AASB since November 2014 and has extensive experience in accounting standards setting. Prior to this appointment, she served the Board as its deputy chair and was a member of the AASB’s Urgent Issues Group. Kris was previously a partner in KPMG’s International Standards Group and Australia’s Department of Professional Practice where she interpreted complex technical accounting issues for a wide range of public and private entities. She was the director at Open Gardens Victoria and has volunteered as treasurer at a number of community groups. Kris holds a Master’s in Business in Accounting from the Queensland University of Technology and a Bachelor in Business at Central Queensland University.

Marina is currently the Head of Business Relationship Management (Finance) at Sydney Water. Previously, a GM Finance at OFX (global FX Fintech), she is an experienced finance and strategy leader with extensive international experience and passionate about unconventional approach to finance, continuously demonstrating ‘breaking a myth’ when it comes to building collaborative, resilient and agile finance teams and giving them access to smart technology. She is also part of Heads over Heels non-for-profit organisation supporting female entrepreneurs and also represents Business Alumni Network at The University of Sydney Business School.

Ken Weldin
Ken is an Audit Partner at PKF where he leads our Internal Audit, Risk and Governance Practices as well as sitting in our firm’s Global Risk Advisory Committee. Ken has a detailed understanding of the fundamentals of financial reporting, which is supported by a sound appreciation of risk management and internal audit frameworks. This is demonstrated in the MBA he holds, in which he focused on Corporate Governance, Board Performance and Director Induction matters in particular. Ken is a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia (formerly Chartered Secretaries Australia) where he is a serving member of the Institute’s National Legislation Review Committee providing comments to regulators and standard setters and Chair of its Victorian State Council.

He has over 20 years of information technology audit and consulting experience where he has been helping clients across the globe. Jason specialises in third party assurance, IT audits, and disruptive technologies such as blockchain.
